Venice Residency, 2024-2025
Davide Urbani's residency in Venice emerged from a period of intense travel and reflection. Drawn to the city's unique relationship with water, he developed a body of work that explores painting as a process of emergence and erosion, shaped by the shifting boundary between land and lagoon.
The tidal zone, alternately revealed and submerged by the water, became a powerful metaphor for his practice and a space where traces of experience surface, transform, and disappear. Through this dialogue with Venice's fragile landscape, Urbani's research moved beyond personal narrative toward a deeper investigation of subjectivity, memory, and alterity. His works invite viewers to encounter what remains unfamiliar within themselves, embracing the uncertainty and openness that lie at the heart of artistic creation.
About the Artist
Born in Lunigiana in 1983, Davide Urbani's path brings together disciplines that are rarely found in the same practice. Trained as a telecommunications engineer at the University of Pisa and as an opera singer at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory in Parma, he has worked internationally as both a Solution Architect and a performing artist. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Chorus of Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
Alongside his professional and musical career, painting has remained a constant field of inquiry and expression. Following his move to Venice in 2024, Urbani further developed his visual research through an artist residency, finding in the city's shifting relationship with water, time, and memory a fertile ground for reflection and experimentation.

Pellestrina Residency, 2025
A musician, composer, and storyteller deeply rooted in the Venetian Lagoon, Paki Zennaro brought to the residency a lifetime of artistic research shaped by theatre, contemporary dance, poetry, and music. Rather than focusing on the production of a specific body of work, his time at Arsculture became an opportunity for exchange, reflection, and public engagement.
Throughout the residency, Zennaro shared his artistic journey through intimate musical evenings and conversations, offering audiences a glimpse into a practice where memory, landscape, and sound continuously intertwine. Drawing from the rhythms of Venice and the island of Pellestrina, his performances transformed the residency into a space of listening, dialogue, and cultural transmission.
About the Artist
Born and raised in the Venetian Lagoon, Paki Zennaro has been active for more than four decades as a composer and performer working across music, theatre, contemporary dance, and interdisciplinary projects. His career has brought him from Teatro La Fenice in Venice to international collaborations with leading figures of contemporary dance, including Carolyn Carlson and Ismael Ivo.
Deeply connected to Venice and the island of Pellestrina, Zennaro's work explores the relationship between place, memory, language, and sound. Whether composing for the stage or performing his own repertoire, he transforms personal and collective histories into evocative musical narratives that resonate far beyond the lagoon.
